Highlights of Thailand

With a bustling capital, endless pristine beaches and temples galore, there's plenty to see in Thailand. Some attractions have the edge however, and that's why we recommend these destinations to anyone taking a trip to Thailand:

Chiang Mai

Visit the imposing Doi Suthep Temple high above the city, sample the local delicacies of Chiang Mai's sprawling night market and try your hand at Thai cuisine with a cooking class.

Bangkok

Jump on a tuk tuk for a tour of the capital visiting Wat Pho and the reclining Buddha, the colourful 24-hr flower market and striking Grand Palace before a longtail boat ride along the city canals.

Khao Sok National Park

Located in southern Thailand, the prehistoric jungle of Khao Sok National Park is thought to be one of the oldest in the world at over 160 million years old. Travellers can discover the incredible flora and fauna of the park by following a network of dirt trails, some leading to dramatic limestone formations, others to cascading waterfalls, or perhaps a hidden cave or two.

Ayutthaya

Just 80km north of Bangkok, the ancient city of Ayutthaya reigned as capital of Thailand from the 14th - 18th century with a host of awe-inspiring temples and treasure-filled palaces. It is during this time that the Thai style of architecture began to develop with bell shaped chedi replacing the Khmer style prangs and many consider this period to be the pinnacle of the Thai Kingdom. In 1767 Ayutthaya was sacked by the Burmese and practically raised to the ground by fires.

Chiang Rai

Located in the highlands of northern Thailand overlooking the Kok River, Chiang Rai is home to beautiful wilderness, colourful hill tribes, exotic wildlife and an abundance of trekking routes. The city centre is small enough to wander around and take in the sights by foot, and despite its small size offers a surprising wealth of attractions, good choice of accommodation and delicious food.

With an intriguing historical and cultural heritage, Thailand is a fascinating place to explore and has something for everyone. From the capital city of Bangkok to the colourful hill tribes of Chiang Rai in the north and the blissful beaches of Krabi and Hua Hin in the south, there's plenty to see & do. Thailand also has something to offer at any time of the year whether it's hiking in the northern mountains or relaxing on sun-kissed beaches in the south.
