Three Islands, One Unforgettable Holiday: Discover Corsica, Sardinia & Sicily

Why settle for one Mediterranean island when you could discover three? From Sicily's historic towns and wonderful food to Sardinia's dazzling beaches and Corsica's dramatic mountains, this is island-hopping with a difference.

When we think about Mediterranean holidays, most of us tend to choose one destination, find a lovely hotel and settle in for a week or two. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, at DG Travel, we rather like the idea of doing things a little differently.

Imagine combining three of the Mediterranean's most beautiful and distinctive islands into one carefully planned holiday. Three islands, three very different personalities, and an opportunity to experience some of Europe's finest scenery, beaches, food and culture.

Working with our specialist travel partners, Just Corsica, Just Sardinia and Just Sicily, we can arrange a wonderful tailor-made journey incorporating all three destinations, with flights, accommodation, car hire and ferry connections organised around your own requirements.

And the beauty of it? You can travel at your own pace.

Sicily – History, Culture and a Wonderful Taste of Italy

Suggested stay: 5 nights

Cefalù, a charming seaside town on Sicily's northern coast.
Cefalù, a charming seaside town on Sicily's northern coast.

Our Mediterranean adventure begins in Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean and a destination that really does have something for everyone.

Sicily is a fascinating mixture of cultures, shaped over centuries by the Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans. The result is an island filled with extraordinary architecture, historic towns, colourful markets and some of the most delicious food you are likely to encounter anywhere in Italy.

For this particular journey, we suggest starting in Cefalù, a charming seaside town on Sicily's northern coast.

With its narrow cobbled streets, beautiful Norman cathedral, traditional restaurants and long sandy beach, Cefalù is somewhere that manages to combine history and relaxation rather effortlessly.

Spend your mornings wandering through the old town, perhaps stopping for a coffee in one of the little squares, before enjoying an afternoon beside the sea. In the evening, there are plenty of excellent restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, homemade pasta and wonderful Sicilian wines.

Alberi del Paradiso
Alberi del Paradiso

Where to stay – Alberi del Paradiso

For a five-night stay, we suggest the lovely four-star Alberi del Paradiso, set on a hillside overlooking Cefalù and the Mediterranean.

Surrounded by attractive gardens, the hotel offers a peaceful setting while remaining within easy reach of the historic town and beach.

It's an excellent base for exploring this beautiful part of Sicily, whether you want to spend your time sightseeing or simply enjoying the sunshine.

And, of course, we can arrange a hire car if you fancy venturing further afield.

Sardinia – Turquoise Waters and Beautiful Beaches

Suggested stay: 5 nights

Head to the northeast coast and the beautiful resort of Baia Sardinia, close to the celebrated Costa Smeralda
Head to the northeast coast and the beautiful resort of Baia Sardinia, close to the celebrated Costa Smeralda

From Sicily, our journey continues to Sardinia, an island famous for its remarkable beaches, crystal-clear waters and rather glamorous coastline.

Although Sardinia is Italian, it has a character very much of its own. Away from the fashionable resorts, you'll discover traditional villages, rugged countryside and a fascinating island culture.

For this itinerary, we head to the northeast coast and the beautiful resort of Baia Sardinia, close to the celebrated Costa Smeralda.

This is where the Mediterranean really shows off.

Picture white sandy beaches, turquoise water so clear you can see the seabed, little waterfront restaurants and attractive harbours filled with yachts.

It's a wonderful contrast to Sicily, offering an opportunity to slow down and enjoy a few days of relaxation.

There are boat trips to nearby islands, lovely coastal walks, watersports and plenty of places to enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the sea.

Club Hotel Baia Sardinia
Club Hotel Baia Sardinia

Where to stay – Club Hotel Baia Sardinia

Our suggested accommodation is the four-star Club Hotel Baia Sardinia, enjoying an enviable beachfront position with beautiful views across the bay.

With restaurants, cafés and the resort's lively little piazza nearby, it's a particularly appealing choice for couples wanting somewhere comfortable, well located and close to the beach.

After five nights enjoying Sardinia, it's time for the final island on our journey.

And this next part is rather special.

Corsica – France's Island of Beauty

Suggested stay: 5 nights

Hotel La Solenzara, situated close to the seaside village and marina of Solenzara on Corsica's eastern coast

From northern Sardinia, we travel to Santa Teresa Gallura, where a ferry takes us across the Strait of Bonifacio to Corsica.

The crossing takes approximately 50 minutes, and on arrival you'll discover an island that feels quite different from its Italian neighbours.

Corsica belongs to France, but like Sardinia and Sicily, it has a fiercely independent character, its own traditions and a landscape that is quite extraordinary.

Often referred to as the Island of Beauty, Corsica is a place of towering mountains, dramatic gorges, dense forests, picturesque villages and some absolutely stunning beaches.

What I particularly like about Corsica is the sheer variety of scenery.

You can spend the morning beside a beautiful sandy beach and, within a relatively short drive, find yourself surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and forests.

It's a wonderful destination for anyone who enjoys exploring, and hiring a car is undoubtedly one of the best ways to experience it.

Hotel La Solenzara

Where to stay – Hotel La Solenzara

For our final five nights, we suggest the charming Hotel La Solenzara, situated close to the seaside village and marina of Solenzara on Corsica's eastern coast.

This characterful property occupies a converted Genoese-style residence, complemented by a modern annexe, attractive gardens, an infinity pool and wellness facilities.

The location makes it an excellent base for discovering both the coast and the mountains.

The spectacular Bavella mountains, with their dramatic rock formations, forests and natural swimming pools, are within reach, while the beautiful beaches of southern Corsica are perfect for days when you simply want to relax.

And in the evenings, the marina at Solenzara is a lovely place to enjoy dinner and watch the world go by.

Three Islands, Three Different Experiences

One of the reasons we particularly like this itinerary is that, although these three islands are relatively close geographically, they offer remarkably different holiday experiences.

Sicily brings history, architecture, culture and outstanding food.

Sardinia offers glorious beaches, turquoise seas and relaxed Mediterranean elegance.

Corsica delivers spectacular mountain scenery, charming villages and a wonderful combination of French and island traditions.

Together, they create a holiday that feels much more varied than a conventional two-week beach break, without requiring you to travel halfway around the world.

How Does the Island-Hopping Holiday Work?

Our suggested itinerary includes:

  • 5 nights in Sicily – Alberi del Paradiso, Cefalù, with breakfast.

  • 5 nights in Sardinia – Club Hotel Baia Sardinia, with breakfast.

  • 5 nights in Corsica – Hotel La Solenzara, with breakfast.

The journey begins with a flight from the UK to Palermo in Sicily, followed by an onward flight to Olbia in Sardinia.

From Sardinia, you'll travel by ferry to Bonifacio in Corsica before continuing to your final hotel, with a return flight to the UK from Corsica.

Depending on your chosen dates, flights and connections may vary, and that's where careful planning becomes particularly important.

We can organise the various elements to ensure your journey works as smoothly as possible.

What Does It Cost?

As a guide, our specialist partners have published a 15-night itinerary from £1,815 per person, including:

  • Fifteen nights' accommodation in the suggested hotels, with breakfast.

  • Hire car in Sicily.

  • Standard transfers in Sardinia.

  • Hire car in Corsica.

Please note: International and inter-island flights, ferry crossings and any applicable one-way car hire drop-off charges are additional. Prices are indicative and subject to availability, travel dates and individual requirements.

At DG Travel, we'll prepare a personalised quotation incorporating the arrangements you need, so you have a clear understanding of the overall holiday cost before making a decision.

Can We Change the Itinerary? Absolutely!

This is where booking through an independent travel agent really comes into its own.

The itinerary above is simply a suggestion, rather than a fixed holiday that you have to follow.

Perhaps you'd prefer seven nights in Sicily and four nights each in Sardinia and Corsica.

Maybe you'd like a luxury boutique hotel in Sardinia, a traditional countryside property in Corsica or a few extra nights exploring Sicily.

You might even prefer to visit just two of the islands rather than all three.

We can tailor the holiday to suit you.

At DG Travel, we believe that the best holidays are designed around the people taking them, rather than expecting everyone to fit into the same itinerary.

Why Book Your Mediterranean Island-Hopping Holiday with DG Travel?

Arranging a holiday involving three islands, several hotels, flights, ferry crossings and car hire can be a little more complicated than booking a straightforward package holiday.

Of course, you could spend hours researching the different connections, comparing hotels and trying to piece everything together yourself.

Or you could leave that to us.

At DG Travel Centre in Henley-on-Thames, we have decades of experience arranging tailor-made holidays, and we work with carefully selected specialist operators who really know their destinations.

For Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily, we're delighted to work with Just Corsica, Just Sardinia and Just Sicily, whose specialist knowledge and accommodation choices make them excellent partners for this type of holiday.

We'll discuss what you'd like from your trip, recommend suitable accommodation, investigate the most practical travel arrangements and put together a holiday that works for you.

And importantly, you'll have someone here in Henley to speak to before you travel, rather than having to deal with several different companies yourself.

Whether you're looking for a special anniversary holiday, a memorable Mediterranean adventure or simply something a little different for your next summer escape, combining Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily is certainly worth considering.

Three wonderful islands, fifteen nights and countless opportunities to discover somewhere new.
