July 2026 – Summer is Here... Where Will It Take You?

There is something different about July.
The evenings are longer, the schools are preparing to break up, airports are getting busier, and for many people, thoughts turn from "we really should book something" to "where are we actually going?"
At DG Travel, the last few weeks have been incredibly busy. We've been arranging everything from family adventures in Thailand and Australia to luxury rail journeys through Southern Africa, city breaks in Europe, cruises, honeymoons and those special holidays people have been planning for years.
One thing we've noticed? People are travelling differently.
Clients aren't just asking for the cheapest holiday. They're looking for experiences, memorable hotels, places with character and, perhaps most importantly, honest advice from someone who has the time to listen.
That's exactly what independent travel agencies do best.
Summer isn't over yet
If you haven't booked a summer holiday, don't assume you've missed your chance.
July
If you're able to travel at short notice, there are still some excellent opportunities.
Think:
Croatia's beautiful coastline
The Greek Islands
Madeira
The Algarve
Northern Spain
Lake Garda
Many destinations are warm without becoming unbearably hot, and with a little flexibility there can still be excellent value.

August – Look beyond the obvious
August is traditionally the busiest month of the year, particularly for families.
That doesn't mean everywhere has to feel crowded.
Some of our favourite suggestions include:
Slovenia – mountains, lakes and beautiful scenery.
Poland – fascinating cities with excellent value.
Sweden – perfect for those who prefer milder temperatures.
Canada – one of the very best months for wildlife and road trips.
Norway – spectacular scenery and outdoor adventures.
If beaches are more your thing, don't overlook lesser-known Greek islands or quieter parts of Portugal.

September – One of the best months to travel
Ask almost anyone in the travel industry when they'd choose to go away, and September will usually be near the top of the list.
Why?
The weather is still excellent across much of Europe.
The sea is at its warmest.
Families have returned home after the school holidays.
Prices often become more sensible.
Restaurants, beaches and attractions are noticeably quieter.
For many of our clients, September offers the perfect balance.
Some of our favourites include:
Italy
Sicily
Malta
Cyprus
Turkey's Turquoise Coast
The Balearic Islands
Morocco
South Africa (ideal safari season)

Thinking further ahead?
One trend we're seeing more than ever is people booking much earlier.
Christmas 2026, Easter 2027 and even summer 2027 enquiries are already arriving.
Popular destinations such as Japan, South Africa, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand are seeing strong demand, particularly where flights are limited.
Booking early isn't just about securing availability—it often gives you more choice, better flight times and the hotels you actually want.

Why use an independent travel agent?
With so many websites promising the "best deal", it's easy to forget what you're really buying.
When you book with DG Travel, you're getting:
✓ Nearly 40 years of travel experience.
✓ Personal recommendations based on your holiday, not an algorithm.
✓ Someone who knows your booking inside out.
✓ Help if flights change or plans go wrong.
✓ Financial protection where applicable.
✓ One point of contact from the day you book until you arrive home.
Travel has become more complicated over the last few years. Having someone on your side can make all the difference.
Thank you
If you've noticed we've been a little quieter on social media recently, it's simply because we've been doing what we enjoy most—looking after our clients.
Now we're looking forward to sharing more travel inspiration, destination guides, offers and a few stories from behind the scenes at DG Travel.
Whether you're planning a last-minute escape, a family holiday, a cruise, or the trip you've always promised yourself, we'd love to help.
After all, holidays are about far more than flights and hotels—they're about creating memories.
Have a wonderful July, and wherever you're travelling this summer, travel safely.
